A
fascinating equipment incorporating both Endoscopy and
ultrasound at its tip called Endo Ultra Sonography has
been introduced in this institution for the first time
in Tamilnadu. This will be an useful tool in the following
situations:
To assess horizontal spread of esophageal /
gastric and rectal tumours (It offers better and
accurate information compared to CT Scan and MRI).
To evaluate sub-mucosal tumour.
To evaluate prominent gastric mucosal folds.
To recognize small obscure biliary lesions in
obstructive jaundice
EUS is the gold standard in detecting early
Chronic Pancreatitis and Carcinoma of Pancreas
including endocrine tumours.
