Dr. T.S.Chandrasekar, MD DM,  a specialist Gastroenterologist, is an expert in Digestive Diseases and one of the leading Therapeutic Endoscopists in our country. He is well renowned for his technical skills and unique teaching ability throughout the world. He has more than 20 years of experience in his field and has performed several thousand diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.

He was instrumental in bringing hi-tech facilities for the first time in Tamil Nadu, notable among them are Endoultrasonography (EUS), 
GI Manometry, 24 Hour Ambulatory Esophageal pH Recorder and Video Enteroscope (for the first time in India).  

A Jewel in the crown is the Digestive Health Expo (Health Exhibition) which was organised by him at Chennai during January, 2003 which benefited several thousand visitors.

 Career Highlights               

	After a brilliant academic career, he underwent advanced training in Therapeutic Endoscopy and Liver Diseases at King’s College Hospital, London ; Hospital Erasme, Bruxelles, Belgium; University Hospital, Hamburg, Germany and Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam, Holland.
	He was involved in organising the Department of Gastroenterology at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital and was teaching faculty at Madras Medical College
	Participated and conducted several live endoscopy workshops, conferences and symposia at national and global levels inclusive of two International Conferences  - Endostherapy '99 on Therapeutic G I Endoscopy and Pancon 2000 on Pancreatic Diseases. He was an International Faculty for the 10th World Congress of Gastroenterology, Los Angeles, 1994.
	He has authored a book entitled ‘Hand Book on G.I.Endoscopy'
	He has created a series of 14 Teaching CD ROMs on various aspects of G.I.Endoscopy.
	He started the Intensive Digestive Care Unit (IDCU) harbouring the Intensive Liver Care Unit (ILCU) and  Intensive Pancreatic Care Division (IPCD) for the first time in this part of the country
	He started Esophageal Laboratory for the first time in India for evaluating esophageal diseases
	He has conducted Vaccination Camps, Cancer Screening Camps, Paediatric Gastroenterology Camps, etc., for public
	Has set up Jaundice Information Centre and Public Awareness Cell for Digestive Diseases
	He constituted a charitable trust called Universal Digestive Diseases Foundation to serve the poor
